Types of Therapies
Individual Therapy
The basis of individual therapy is one-on-one interaction between the therapist and the client. The concerns can be personal, or professional related to work pressure, anxiety, panic, etc
Group Therapy
- It is referred to as group Therapy when one or more therapists deal with group of clients together, it could be a team at office or school etc.
Couples therapy
- In couples Therapy, the married couple or couples in a relationship seek help to resolve conflicts and improve the quality of their relations.
- Pre-marital counseling is an emerging field. The couples seek counseling about their strengths and weaknesses and work on building healthy relationships..
Allied Therapies
Remedial Therapy
- Remedial therapy is an intervention aimed at assisting an individual to achieve an increased level of functioning when performance is below expectation.
- It could be related to reading, writing, spelling, comprehension, and maths skills. It focuses on skills rather than the content.
- These educational needs are met by creating an Individualized Education Plan (IEP). An IEP is a specialized plan for each child’s needs and it will address unique learning difficulties through specific long-term and short-term goals.
- An IEP will include an evaluation of the child’s present level of performance. It will include annual educational goals to be attained. It also provides for the mapping of each child’s dreams.
Occupational Therapy
Occupational therapy comprises therapeutic activities including self-care, social skills, personal hygiene, following instructions, etc. to help live & develop independent functioning of the child.
Speech Therapy
Every child needs to express himself and that happens with communication Speech therapists work towards identifying and assessing speech difficulties and teaching better social communication.
Play Therapy
Using play in therapy helps children to express themselves in their own way; especially if they are struggling to understand how they are feeling or are finding it hard to put their experiences into words.
Behavioral Therapy
A technique used to increase appropriate behavior and decrease inappropriate behavior causing problems in a child’s daily life. Rewards system like praising your child, giving them his favorite toy, etc. when the desired behavior is shown.
ABA Therapy
Applied Behaviour Analysis is a therapy based on the science of learning and behavior. The goal is to increase behaviors that are helpful and decrease behaviors that are harmful or affect learning. It helps in increasing language and communication skills and improves attention, focus, social skills & memory.
Early Intervention Programs
Early intervention programs are special services for infants and toddlers at risk for developmental delays. These services are designed to identify and meet children’s needs in five developmental areas. These are physical, cognitive, communication, social, or emotional development.
Emotional Intelligence (EQ)
EQ is the ability to understand and manage your own emotions in positive ways to relieve stress, communicate effectively, empathize with others, and overcome challenges
